I'd Known Her For Years

I'd known Tife for a few years from church. Even then, I could see she was beautiful, smart, and deeply rooted in her faith. When I felt led to reach out, I was excited… and terrified. We weren't in the same church anymore, but the desire to reconnect wouldn't leave me. I wanted to tell her honestly: I believed God was leading me to talk to her about something serious. Marriage.

The Deliberation

How Do I Even Talk to Her?

I wrestled with how to do it. Should I call Mummy Tayo for her number? Maybe I’d just drop by for a “courtesy visit” and hope for a moment alone? How would I even talk to her with Daddy and Mummy there? In the end, I decided to ask a few of the youth in church. Someone was bound to have her number, right?

One Sunday

She Walked Towards Me

Then one Sunday changed everything. Service ended, but I lingered — chatting with friends, just stalling for no reason. An hour passed. Everyone left. I prayed for a while, and finally decided it was time to get going. As I walked home, I looked up and saw her walking towards me. It was Tife. It was so unreal in that moment, but I knew — this was my moment. I asked for her number regardless.

From Then to Forever

Every Day After That

Our first conversation was short, but it felt like a door opening. The next day, I called. We talked about God, education, life, friendship. The next day, I called again. And again. What started as intentional conversations quickly became frequent, deep, and real. I didn't need long to know where I was headed. Since then, it's been a revelation — love, laughter, excitement, hope, the occasional disagreement, and always reconciliation. Above it all is a steadfast hope, a future together, anchored in Christ the Rock.
